The League Comments on the Importance of Public Comments By Bernadette Brooks, President

The Napa League belongs to a large group of nonprofits called the Community Leaders Coalition (CLC), whose mission is to advocate for the needs of underserved populations throughout the county. The CLC recently alerted its members that the Napa County Board of Supervisors (BOS) was considering removing the live call-in option during the public comment portion of its meetings. This option was implemented during the pandemic to provide a way for the public to engage without physically attending meetings. The CLC leadership wrote a letter to the BOS in favor of keeping the live call-in option and asked its member organizations to show their support. As your president, I used the online option to let the BOS know our League considered call-ins to be a good method for community involvement in county government.
